About the Marin Sailing School

OVERVIEW

Specializing in small group and one-on-one instruction, the Marin Sailing School was founded by Al Spector on the notion that highly personalized sailing instruction can be delivered in combination with fine hospitality. Based in Sausalito, California, the Marin Sailing School’s curriculum offers four courses ranging from one to five days of instruction, as well as corporate courses for team building, client development and leadership training.

Marin Sailing School is dedicated to providing access to the sport of sailing to the blind and visually impaired community. A substantial part of all revenues support our not-for-profit division.

ABOUT CAPTAIN SPECTOR

As a former corporate executive at Fortune 500 companies, and as a seasoned sailor and U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain (50-ton Master), Capt. Spector has developed a unique sailing program focused specifically on private instruction. At the heart of the model is not only personal attention to the student, but also a focus on delivering a rich and truly authentic sailing experience.

In addition, Capt. Spector has served as tactician for California One, the Marin Sailing School’s entry in the 2008 and 2009 U.S. National Blind Sailing Championships at Newport, Rhode Island, as well as the 2009 World Blind Sailing Championships at Lake Rotorua, New Zealand.
